A former cleaner has succeeded in her claim against Barclays Bank and was awarded more than £7000 in compensation. Her claim was for discrimination as the Bank had declined to give her insurance benefits because she worked part time only.

The cleaner, Sylvia Hayes, won £7240 in an out-of–court settlement, which was backed by the Equal Opportunities Commission.
