There is concern for the future of jobs
at Daewoo’s UK plant after the Korean
car giant went into bankruptcy. Union
leaders want to see the technical center
in West Sussex sold. It employs 750
workers.
In September, Daewoo had problems paying
its UK workers after defaulting on a
$155m debt. It now owes creditors
$10.6bn. They eventually received their
wages last month when unions insisted
that creditors and management pay wage
arrears before contemplating job cuts
and freezing wages.
