The best way to avoid racial and sexual
harassment complaints is to ensure that
harassment does not occur in the first
place. Employers should have an equal
opportunities policy and a sexual and
racial harassment policy, which define
harassment and state that it should not
occur. Employees must he made aware of
the existence of these policies,
educated about harassment and warned of
its consequences. Employees should be
aware that acts of harassment are taken
very seriously by the employer and will
be considered gross misconduct.
